BMW N47 N57 Engine rebuild available
It has been well established that there is an ongoing issue with BMWs fitted with N47 N57 B47 and B57 Engines. The timing chains are prone to stretching and snapping, some at very low mileage. A quick search on google with bring up a wealth of information about this issue.
Symptoms include rattling chain, especially during start up, rough idling, loss of power, vibration, hard starting and engine management light. The main cause for these timing chains issues is due to the location it was installed in by BMW. The chain is placed to the rear of the engine which causes it to be under more stress, this leads to stretching and snapping. If not properly serviced this can bring about this issue without warning.
The consequences of a snapped chain will certainly require an engine replacement or rebuild, this is because once the chain snaps the piston will hit one or many of the valves causing instant engine failure and catastrophic damage. CHAINS MUST NOT BE SNAPPED (although we can repair any engine which suffered from timing chain snapping, but it will cost more due to the engine will need to be rebuilt.
